3CSN is a long-standing sponsor and partner to the SSSC and RP Group. Every year 3CSN coordinators present on student success initiatives, research projects, and faculty innovations. 3CSN also conducts post-conference workshops on the last day of the conference. These workshops offer a deep dive into student learning topics.  We hope you join us!

SSSC 2024 Post Conference Workshops: 

Using Artificial Intelligence as a Learning Tool: Participants will deepen their understanding of the role AI is playing in higher education systems and have the opportunity to hear and learn from community college students how they are currently using these tools in their coursework. 

Guided Pathways: Career Exploration in the Classroom:  Using student survey data about career exploration, participants will redesign a component of their course. Together, we will pivot the focus from the “decision” to the “process” and discover new ways to support all students—both decided and still exploring—through ongoing career exposure and self-reflection. We encourage participants to bring with them a learning artifact from their course—such as their syllabus, module, assignments, or essay prompt—that they would like to redesign with a focus on career exploration and an opportunity to create a project-based lesson. 

Since 2015, 3CSN and IEPI have been collaborating to help train Partnership Resource Teams (PRT), which are peer-led technical assistance teams available to institutions requesting assistance. 3CSN provides Appreciative Inquiry (AI) training and support to PRT team members, helping participants to think through the principles of AI and to apply this strengths-based lens to the guidance and support they provide to colleges across California. 

Participants learn what the Appreciative Inquiry approach is and how it differs from the traditional, deficit-model approach to strategic planning and problem solving; they gain practice by transforming traditional inquiry questions into Appreciative Inquiry questions, which invite clients to surface past successes and strengths as well as their dreams and values; then they put their skills into practice, seeking the strengths and values of their client institutions, and forming Appreciative Inquiry questions that explore those strengths more deeply. 

3CSN is currently partnering with Victor Valley College as they work on equity projects for the CCCO's Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practices (CRPP) Grant.  3CSN also partnered with Glendale Community College and West LA College in 2023. 

3CSN is currently partnering with the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) on a seed grant from the CCCCO’s Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) to provide professional learning in Diversity Equity and Inclusion to teams of faculty that represent disciplines in which closing the equity gap of Black and Latinx students would increase student success across the nine colleges.  These disciplines are Biology, Psychology, and Communications. 

3CSN is a proud to be a part of the LA Community College District, the largest district in the nation. 3CSN operates from the district office and its executive director, Dr. Deborah Harrington is the Dean for Student Success at the LACCD and an English professor at L.A. Valley College.
