Design Labs: Professional Learning by Design
3CSN created and launched the Design Labs Series (link: https://www.canva.com/design/DAEJq5qZPo0/QVHUtjpOkBsOq7bt_7RM5Q/view?website#4:3csn-summer-design-labs), six in-depth learning community opportunities, in summer 2020. Each Design Lab consists of four, 90-minute sessions. Participants build knowledge and relationships and have the opportunity to apply their knowledge to design, revise, and/or reimagine their approaches, materials/plans, and roles as community college professionals.
Design Lab Series Foci:
- Peer Learning Assistance
- Leadership & Coherence Building
- Student Engagement
- Civic Engagement
- Online Course Design
The Design Labs reached over 80 participants representing 30 community colleges. Design Labs are intentionally designed for each of 3CSN’s Design Principles (link: https://www.canva.com/design/DAEI2tHeKFE/qQZmvRG8uWgUyignQIvtiw/view?website#4:3csn-s-principles-of-powerful-professional-learning) to be experienced. Participants built knowledge and relationships during the learning community and applied their knowledge to design, revise, and/or reimagine their approaches, materials/plans, and roles as community college professionals.

If we provide more platforms for student voices to be heard and we use their feedback to improve on our programs, then students will be able to better utilize our programs as it was intended. This will lead to students receiving an equitable experience, which will lead to greater student success.
