LINKS (Learning in Networks for Knowledge Sharing)-Building Leadership Networks: Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn — Ventura Crowne Plaza (4/21-4/22/17)

For the past several years, RP Group’s Leading from the Middle (LFM) and 3CSN’s Basic Skills Initiative Leadership Institute (BSILI) have supported colleges as they strengthen their capacity to create and sustain leadership focused on what students need to reach their goals. Expanding on this work, LFM and 3CSN are pleased to invite you to a two-day conference, “Building Leadership Networks: Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn.” Held at the Crowne Plaza on the beautiful beach of Ventura, California on April 21-22.

Registration and Agenda Details


The cost is $50 (plus EventBrite Processing Fee of $3.74) for two days; this includes the preconference and meals. If you plan on attending one day, the cost is $30  (plus EventBrite Processing Fee of $2.64). Advance payment via EventBrite registration accepted via Visa, Check or Invoice. Checks should be made out to: Los Angeles Community College District.  Same day payment accepted via check only.

10:00am – 12:00pm – Preconference – California Guided Pathways

Dr. Craig Hayward will provide an overview of the California Guided Pathways project and lead an interactive session exploring ways in which your college can connect with this work.


12:00pm – 5:00pm Day One –Building Collaborative Cultures and Institutional Coherence

Interactive breakout sessions will feature case studies from exemplar LFM and BSILI colleges. Through these case studies, participants will explore leadership themes, including:

  •    Building organizational coherence
  •    Cross walking for integrated planning
  •    Developing collaborative cultures
  •    Engaging resistance
  •    Collecting and sharing data
  •    Seeding networks and relationships
  •    Scaling and sustaining projects/initiative over time

5:30pm – 7:00pm – Reception

9:00 – 3:00pm – Day Two – Building Capacity for Equity at Scale

Keynote speaker Dr. Francis Kendall will set the context for integrating equity into our success initiatives. The State Chancellor’s Office will discuss how they will provide resources to support leadership and integration for transformation at scale. Teams will participate in an interactive “Equity Data Walk,” and LFM and 3CSN coordinators will facilitate a conversation about how we can continue to leverage our networks and resources to support colleges across the state.


We will conclude the conference by a raffling off prizes, including registrations for the October 2017 Strengthening Student Success Conference

LINKS 2.0: Community, Networks, and Innovation — College of the Canyons (4/29/16-4/30/16)


As California provides resources to support transformational educational reform and equitable student success initiatives, colleges face the challenge of leveraging these resources in an integrated fashion to achieve powerful results that move the needle for all of our students.  3CSN’s Learning in Networks for Knowledge Sharing (LINKS) events are about sharing evidence-based high impact practices, and this year, we’re bringing you LINKS 2.0, a two-day conference to present you with a wider range of resources to support the work you are doing to achieve equity and student success on your campuses.  With a combination of featured speakers, hands-on trainings, college success initiative showcases and resource sessions, including encore presentations from the 2015 Strengthening Student Success (SSS) Conference, the event will help participants to:

  • learn how to better situate themselves and their student success initiatives within the college’s equity work.
  • learn strategies for engaging in critical conversations to further equity goals.
  • increase awareness of resources and networks available (locally and statewide) to support their initiatives.
  • learn about current initiatives already in place at two-year colleges in CA and how those colleges have maximized resources to move their initiatives forward.
