3CSN’s Habits of Mind (HoM) Project provides professional learning opportunities and resources for building students’ academic and career dispositions and attitudes. Momentum around the HoM Project has exploded since its inception spring 2012. Beginning with 60 educators showing interest in the Habits at LINKS V, there are now more than 600 educators, from at least 75 colleges, who have participated in professional learning provided by the project. Through these activities practitioners have been challenged to develop “mindful” practices to influence students’ expectations and values and build intellectual habits of mind.
3CSN now introduces the HoM Leadership Community of Practice (LCoP) for those seeking to lead Habits of Mind initiatives on their campuses. The LCoP is best suited for those:
● seeking to close opportunity gaps and empower the marginalized on your campus in order to achieve equity;
● inspired to build a campus community that honors the humanity of faculty, staff, and students; and
● motivated to create a safe space for collaborative professional learning.
Northern & Central California Community College teams of two to four faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to apply. During the Spring 2017 training and coaching, teams will discover how to create or expand their Habits of Mind campus initiative which will be implemented Fall 2017.
Another cycle of applications will be available at a later date for Southern & Central California faculty, staff, and administrators interested in implementing or growing HoM initiatives.
Application deadline: Sunday, May 1, 2016 by 5 p.m.
