Habits of Mind in the Disciplines

The Habits of Mind in the Disciplines event April 17th at  Fullerton College brought faculty, student service professionals and students together from around the region to discuss how Habits of Mind might be approached from different disciplinary perspectives.  Breakout sessions included a focus on mindfulness practices, fostering growth mindset in STEM courses, growth mindset activities in Humanities courses, habits of mind in tutor training, and the highlight: a student-lead session.  Fullerton College Phi Theta Kappa students described what teachers can do to foster or discourage growth mindset in their students.  Participants were so interested in what the students had to say that they suggested we feature a student panel for the whole group to hear at our next Habits of Mind event.  The students are willing and eager to participate in another event in the fall.  Stay tuned!
